Now that the X-Men have successfully changed the past and achieved a safe future for the mutants, the first mutant returns from the darkness: Apocalypse. This mutant, also called En Sabah Nur, sees today's mutants as weak. The 5,000-year-old 'super mutant' Apocalypse begins his quest to force his will on the world. The law of the strongest is his motto and applies to both human and mutant. To withstand the impending genocide, a new team of X-Men must be assembled and both Professor Xavier and his enemy Magneto must choose sides.

Luckily it turned out to be a good movie. I thought the trailer was horrible and then Apocalypse. Holy fuck, how bad can you screw up a character?! That look, that voice and too human eyes. Should have just left it all white. I mean, look at http://i.imgur.com/yuIdVOe.jpg.
Fortunately, the film has an excellent start! Even Apocalypse looks good! But then it sometimes looks a bit too much like a Teen High School Drama, but then there's Michael Fassbender! What a strong role again! I believe him 100% that way! Fortunately, the entire cast does well with a funny joke here and there. And yes, and even Apocalypse was not so bad in the end! But it doesn't matter, because he's still not too good!
And then Wolverine. Well, that was some fun! Until he runs out into the snow.. Well.. ah! 
And of course not forgetting the Quicksilver scene Yes, that's what you call memorable! Also totally agree with DVD-T on some of the peaks in this movie.
X-Men: Apocalypse.. I went to this movie with some reluctance, but still a big pass! A 7.5/10 for me.
PS how nice to hear the old Metallica in a movie!

So many Marvel.
I've seen most of them in the meantime, yet I can't follow these films for a meter even if I'm not a fan. Through all the reboots, alternate timelines and haggling, I barely know what belongs to which. I should have read up beforehand, but I don't really feel like that with these films.
It doesn't really matter that much, because the bottom line is always the same. The good guys vs the bad guys and who wins in the end… well. A lot of kitschy CG passes by and it often takes more than two hours, but the outcome is always the same.
Singer really doesn't add anything as a director, because this film comes straight out of the Marvel machine. Apparently we've ended up in the 80's (well, however coincidental) and yet another world-threatening bad guy has to be stopped. And that with a team of youngsters who mainly irritate.
Poor humor, visually uninteresting, way too serious and completely incoherent. But I think I've put that down before with these films.

The world's first mutant was an Egyptian God [Oscar Isaac] who has been transferring his special powers to survive since 3600 BC. The current generation of mutants has split into two factions. Charles Xavier [James McAvoy] believes that mutants can live in harmony with 'ordinary' people if they learn to control their powers and use them for good, but Erik Lensherr [Michael Fassbender] does not shy away from violence and turned the mutants into evil in 1973 daylight by carrying out an attack on the American president. Too many additional storylines explain the rudderlessness of the screenplay and the new characters add little to the franchise. The only exception is Evan Peter who, as the lightning-fast Quicksilver, provides the highlight of this film (and one of the most memorable moments in the entire franchise).
