"Every generation has a story."

Thirty years after the victory over the Galactic Empire, there is a new threat: the evil Kylo Ren and the First Order. Stormtrooper Finn defects to the Resistance, crashes on desert planet Jakku and meets Rey here. She has a droid that contains important secret information about the location of the last remaining Jedi Knight, Luke Skywalker. The duo teams up with Han Solo to ensure the resistance gets their hands on this information.

It is quite an achievement to make such an empty film in this rich universe.

Call it a deja-vu feeling, ruminating or a new jacket, the fact remains that this film actually has nothing new to offer. No interesting political events, the crying lack of appealing heroes, and an almost universal aptitude for the force (the latter can perhaps be seen as an innovation, albeit a completely misplaced one). It is to be hoped that a number of puzzle pieces will fall into place in the sequels, because the atmosphere may be as usual, but without a noteworthy story this unimaginative event contrasts sharply with all previous parts.

The movie should have all the special effects and endless shooting that teenage boys might like. The story is short-lived and a silly mixed bag (kind of like Nazi Germany versus Che Guevara guerilla fighters on a galactic scale with a bit of Lord of The Rings thrown in). The humor is terribly bland and corny. Could be the most expensive infantile film of all time. The Star Trek series is more fun.
