Watched this today (apparently made a mistake, because I apparently skipped part 5).

Pretty good Star Trek movie. Finally just good special effects, a good plot with real threat and a traitor, whom I didn't expect in the end and finally a good villain in the guise of Christopher Plummer (incl. eye patch!).

However, I always find it striking how relatively small-scale actually the films are compared to the Star Wars series. Crews per spaceship always seem to consist of no more than five or six men (how many Klingons do you actually see in that ship at the same time?). That prison underground doesn't seem that big either, although it has to be and you always have the feeling that apart from the well-known players there really isn't much more crew on board the Enterprise.

As for the actors besides the wooden Shatner, the cool Nimoy and the somewhat goofy Kelly, at least the rest of the crew gets a little more screen time than usual.

Also nice to see Kim Cattrall in a pretty big role, that was an actress at the time, who I saw regularly in my favorite films (eg "Big trouble in little China" and "Hold-up!"), but whose I could never remember which movie I knew her from, or if I remembered her name.

Nice ending too, in which we see, as it were, the old guard saying goodbye to the viewer.

Well worth an eight or four stars.

This part has a high Klingon content which makes the film a bit of fun at least. And luckily you don't have all that endless serious hassle here either. It also looked remarkably good and neat. It still won't become one of my favorite series, far from it. But this is a better Star Trek part than average .

Good film in which peace negotiations are planned with the Klingons. A great ending to this first series of Star Trek films with a beautiful ending. This film has a good story and is especially a lot more exciting compared to the previous films. The humor is also less present here.
