The finale of an emo teen series. After the very disappointing previous part, it was still anxious to see if this would end with a fizzle. In any case, the story is much better. If that last movie hadn't been split in 2 and had a different director, it would still have been a good movie. The finale comes across as a franchise that has woken up again. As if an entire class has fallen asleep after a boring lecture and the teacher wakes everyone up with the words 'and now we're going to see that in practice'. Quite an improvement, but because of that boring part it never becomes epic.

The film has some nicer characters and the fight is also worth it. Apart from the twist, that's still nice to see. The director is not exactly Hollywood's greatest talent, but he tries to make something out of it. The setting is beautiful and the action works well. The Twilight franchise is a very corny series, mainly aimed at teenagers. Not as bad as it makes out, but if you're not the target audience it can be a bit boring at times. Besides, a better director could have gotten more out of this. Perhaps the greatest achievement is the representation of the werewolves, which is done rather clumsily in most films.

“My time as a human was over. But I've never felt more alive.”

The last part actually has all the flaws of the previous parts, but ends on a positive note. Even this latest Twilight movie starts excruciatingly slow and again has way too much romantic talk, while the action and suspense lag far behind.

The ratio is completely off again, although I have to say that the target group is probably well catered for. The acting is again mediocre and the characters produce one laughable one-liner after another. Especially the role of the father (Billy Burke), who allows and approves of everything around his daughter, belongs more in a comedy. Michael Sheen is still bringing some life to the brewery, but it's fitting that the last big fight turns out to be a vision .

Now that Bella is a vampire, she must learn to deal with her newfound powers and shortcomings. The birth of their daughter [Mackenzie Foy] is a crime in the eyes of the Volturi, so this time Bella must be protected from Aro [Michael Sheen] and his henchmen. The grand finale of the Twilight series isn't as memorable as most optimists would have hoped, but ultimately conforms to the average level of this successful but otherwise uninteresting 'saga'. At least Sheen is bringing some life to the brewery and there's an early role for Rami Malek, but a movie that presents Dakota Fanning as a big name can't be much.
