The film succeeds in seamlessly interweaving tragedy and humor. Remarkably enough, despite the dramatic story, the end result is a genuine feel-good movie. This is mainly due to the infectious interpretation of the sunny and characterful Emilia Clarke, including her unmissable facial expression. It takes some time, but the chemistry that develops between her and Sam Claflin is irresistible in the long run.

Very beautiful and the fact that the films are connected with clichés will be the worst for me. I really enjoyed this. In the midst of the bloody senseless violence and the often much-praised tough machog act, I find these kinds of films a real relief.

Me Before You is the even book adaptation of writer Jojo Moyes. The strong story follows Louisa Clark who loses her job and is forced to support her family financially and immediately has to go elsewhere for work. For this she starts a new work experience without suspecting. Taking care of and keeping Will Traynor company who is confined to a wheelchair for life after an accident.

After a quick and short introduction, the story is slowly brought up. Especially the construction herein is carefully processed. The bond between the two main characters is mainly drawn towards each other in this build-up. Several genres are merged together without any problems and it still forms a fairly light-hearted film. Meanwhile, the story does ask for a heavier undertone, but it is not yet ready for that. For example, the film takes all the rest to let the first part blossom into something beautiful in the relationship of both main characters.

Here Emilia Clarke (Louisa Clark) and Sam Clafin (Will Traynor) work well towards each other and both portray their characters very well. They portray their roles so well that the viewer can easily empathize with the two main characters. Once towards the end, the film builds up more intensity in the last twenty minutes and the strong story takes on a heavier undertone. From here, director Thea Sharrock proves the light-hearted start with editing various genres well through to the important subject of the film. As if drama was not present in the film, it is strongly present from that moment on. Perhaps predictable and feel far in advance. But the way of application is very strong. A tear can certainly be wiped away.

Actually, it's not a good film at all... but the endearing Emilia Clarke manages to carry the film almost on her own. Almost like a fairytale, you are drawn into her uninhibited and sometimes naive view of the world. This makes the film feel playful and real and arouses sympathy above all for herself but also for her opponent.

You just have to accept that everything is a bit over the top, the supporting roles are sometimes unnecessarily annoying and that even with this theme there are some ugly plot holes. And I do. *3.5
