Now let's just say something positive. The comment about credibility does not apply here at all, it is about the abstract elaboration and underlying meaning. It is about what one is capable of guarding love. YOU is like poetry: Abstract, sensitive, but above all mysterious and inexplicable.

YOU is the first series I watched twice in a row; YOU is intriguing, full of sultry tension, has a fast tempo, smooth execution, is well styled, functional writing and mysterious characters. Many characters are indeed as flat as a dime, but that is also the intention, after all, the intrigue of the story is central.

Is YOU a series with a lot of character development and memorable characters? No. But is YOU a series that with its oppressive tension and unique combination of thriller and romance at a murderous pace grabs you by the throat caressing? For those who allow it, absolutely.

Intriguing series that I watched twice with great interest. The atmosphere, the romance and the tension are well portrayed and the acting is also excellent.

The depth of the characters is here and there rather flat, but the series is fully committed to pace and atmosphere. The bookshop, the countless references to literature and beyond, the tension between the protagonists, Penn Badgley and Elizabeth Lail, is clearly palpable.

There are also strong supporting roles by Shay Mitchell, who comes out much better here than in Pretty Little Liars and not to forget John Stamos as the psychologist, who shows something different here than his Full House role. The other supporting roles provide the necessary humor, but in any case this is a villainous and well-written series that feels like a complete whole. Perhaps this is also because the series is based on a novel You - Caroline Kepnes (2014) - BoekMeter.nl

All in all an exciting and sensual series that is extra fun when you watch it with your partner.

On to season 2!

Not top notch, but still a fun series.

The script is well put together enough to provide an acceptable conclusion to the first season.

The acting was decent, but apart from the main characters, most of the others seem to have switched from a bland teen series. On that front, I'm hoping for some improvement in season 2. I'm definitely going to give that a shot, especially since I was very enamored with Victoria Pedretti in Bly Manor. Something tells me I'm going to love her character more than Beck.
