The Invasion plot

The Invasion tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that changes people's behavior. A psychiatrist from Washington, DC (Nicole Kidman) discovers that the origin of the epidemic is extraterrestrial. Then she must fight to protect her son, who is said to have the key to stop an imminent invasion.

On the bland side.
Unfortunately, this Invasion doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It will borrow from all kinds of genres, but in the end it manages to convince with nothing. A bit of horror, sci-fi, thriller, action, drama ... it's all there, but in the end it is mainly a somewhat dull film.
The story is well known, you can't draw much from it these days. But with these kinds of films it is mainly about the effect, it is where Hirschbiegel lets it down. It must be said that here and there something interesting happens in terms of editing, but often the film is also too fleeting, as a result of which the film lacks atmosphere.
And without atmosphere there is no tension. The action scenes are also rather bland, the drama mainly by telephone. Nice to choose some more famous actors, but they are also not of the level that they can take an entire film in tow.
It's not really bad anywhere, just rather salty and bland.
