Jennifer Aniston in a role in which she doesn't play Rachel from Friends for once, and it's going well for her too. Clive Owen is a man with only one facial expression, who plays the same silent gruff man with a sad countenance in every film. I too saw the twist coming and the figurative punch in the stomach did not come. The transformation that Owen undergoes from an unresisting victim to a decisive hero, who does not shy away from killing the bad guys, comes across as a bit unbelievable and brusque. And the last scene where we see the confrontation in prison doesn't really add anything. The somewhat melancholic atmosphere is okay and the film remains captivating until the end, despite some striking mistakes (the detective does not bite into the case at all, the gang of scammers continues to operate in the same neighborhood and even the same hotel, Charles finds them immediately, why is he being scammed but not Lucinda?).

A fine thriller. And whether you're cheating or not, it's always best to have nothing to do with a place or time where you don't want anyone else to find out. It's just a reason not to file a report with the police, the insurance company or anyone else.

Especially liked the first part up to the exposure the film the best. I do have some trouble with the transformation from moron to determined hero (twice(!) ), but apart from that I thought the tension was good. I didn't see the twist coming. On the other hand, after the twist , I thought the film had fallen into mediocrity. For example, I don't understand how that money bag ended up in the hotel and nothing more was done with the confession to his wife, there even seemed to be too much scene cut considering some transitions really didn't go well.

Nevertheless, a fine role from Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen was decent. That black colleague of his was quite annoying and rather clichéd in his role.

Yes, this was a fine, suspenseful thriller. Although I was annoyed by Charles in the beginning. He seemed like a weakling to me, but luckily that changed during the movie. Aniston also played very convincingly and cunningly. I had the twist in mind, but as the film progressed, I started to have doubts. In the end she turned out to be an accomplice and this was all a preconceived plan to blackmail men. Charles suddenly has the balls to do something about it and how!! He changes from a normal father to a cold-blooded killer. That part may be a bit unrealistic, but I still thought it was a fun movie.

3.5 stars.
