What a sadness....if it wasn't so silly you could laugh heartily about it, now it's a display of incompetence...a waste of time..

Director Sheldon Wilson is a true genre lover and therefore seems to be little concerned with high ambitions. The full focus on entertainment is therefore of course a logical choice and sometimes that works out well within his projects, but Scarecrow is a bit too easy to convince in that area. After only 15 minutes the puppets are dancing at full speed and the film lapses into a repetition of the same characters being attacked and harassed by an animated creature. The effects are not bad by definition, but Wilson does not manage to create any form of tension or threat from the scarecrow. The somewhat more action-packed moments follow each other too quickly and also seem very similar, which means that they do little to stimulate the viewer to continue watching with interest. The murders are fortunately quite graphic, but after a while a film like this starts to get seriously boring and a somewhat more bombastic finale is not going to change that.
