Død Snø plot

"Eins, Zwei, Die!"

In 1945 the German occupier was massacred by the local population in Øksfjord. They then fled into the mountains, where they froze to death. Years later, a group of friends is on their way to a cottage in Øksfjord. With skis and an unbelievable amount of beer, they are prepared for a fun weekend. Sara is best known in the mountains. She has chosen a different route to the cottage, but no one looks up if they arrive before she does. Maybe she was stuck because of the bad weather. However, no one suspects that she could be a victim of the evil that has been hiding in the mountains for years. That soon changes when the hut is surrounded by a battalion of bloodthirsty German zombie soldiers...

I'd like to like this one more than it does now, but after setup I'm starting to look more and more eagerly at the fast-forward button on my remote. The characters are nice (though clichéd) and the snowscapes are beautifully captured, but somehow the attacks just don't want to be either funny or scary or both at the same time, maybe because Sam Raimi is in the back of my mind all the time . The two jokes with the long stretched gut (first near the abyss, later in a bush) are great, and have plenty of fun ideas in them, but still my interest fades long before the end, and Then all those kills don't help anymore.

How do you get around to making a zombie movie with Nazis? Apparently also used in the obscure horror pulp films of the seventies or eighties, but it is bizarre. While murderous, it's not so much the blood (or brain) that appeals to them the most. Apparently they are looking for the hidden treasure of gold coins, literally even...

The snow landscapes are phenomenal, always nice and an added value. It's not all that much in terms of content, but as a slasher it's quite fun to follow. A funny note here and there, like the tree branch, but too little to be comically successful.
I had a hard time estimating the zombies. Being a soldier, they are easily tricked by some students. Lots of blood and gore, so quite entertaining...
