Planet Terror plot

"Humanity's last hope… rests on a high power machine gun!"

Doctor couple William and Dakota Block are inundated on their night shift with villagers covered in putrid sores and suspiciously empty eyes. Among those injured is Cherry Darling, a go-go dancer whose leg was torn from her body during a violent assault. El Wray, her former other half, stands by her side, watching over her like a hawk. Cherry may be battered, but she is far from finished dancing. When the wounded transform into bloodthirsty psychopaths, Cherry and El Wray lead a team of accidental warriors into the night. Inevitably, they are headed for a fate that will infect millions, kill countless people, and fight a small group of survivors to the last safe haven in Planet Terror.

God, dammit! Ramona, you've been fartin' like a goddamned pack mule.

A film that I've come to appreciate more and more, and what a terrible film I thought the first time I saw it together with Deathproof. The whole style and the grindhouse idea passed me by...

In the meantime I can sit through the film more than fine in all its grossness, rancidity, gory and other over the top situations and I find the film highly entertaining and despite the lack of the necessary story, still very stylish, the old look and the overall decoration with special characters. I mean, let's be honest, the story and the cause of all the situations is very thin, but actually that is of minor importance in a film like this. It's all about the expanded characters and the many kills of course. The pistol hero, the stripper with a machine gun for a leg and a very attractive doctor. Not forgetting the nastiest cook I know, just working on his recipe but in a diner that is mainly empty. I personally don't really like Rose McGowan, give me Marley Shelton or else Emmy Robbin, the hot female deputy. Furthermore Brolin and Tarantino themselves as bad guys, Jeff Fahey great as a dirty cook and Michael Parks is always great too.

Finally, the sleazy soundtrack itself written by Rodriguez fits wonderfully, in short, mind to zero and a feast for the ears and especially the eye in all its style, detail and filth. Awesome!!!

Excellent film in which a village has to deal with a zombie outbreak during one night. Undoubtedly made with love for the b-movie and fun, and it shows on the screen. Wonderfully over the top with no shortage of blood, gore and action (also nice made up here and there). The worn film print finishes it off. Of the double feature together with Death Proof, this one is the better of the two.

A parody/ode to the exploitation films. Both in style, content and various winks. With colorful names such as Cherry Darling and El Wrey, preceded by the fake trailer of Machete with Danny Trejo that would later become a real movie. It is mainly the visual approach that makes the film look like an old VHS version that makes Planet Terror more than just an ode. Because the story itself is just a zombie movie, but everything is so over the top with the necessary humor that it is quite fun.
