Well-constructed film with a very realistic character sketch of a star on her way out, more than that: no longer popular with the cinema executives and bitterly clinging to the glitz and glamor that she still expects.

Role that is beautifully - or what did you think - played by Bette Davis.

The final scene could have been better and is simple and clichéd, but the rest is clever, very clever.

I think Metalfist has summed it up well, Davis carries the film for the most part and the role seems to be perfect for her.

Sterling Hayden plays well, it is an actor that I would like to see play, but the fact that he falls for a woman who is clearly a lot older is quite unbelievable, he almost gets away with it, but in my opinion it would have been better to choose an actor who has a bit older.

The story is otherwise entertaining enough with many good scenes that keep the attention, the ending is a bit truncated but satisfying.

Good film about a Hollywood actress who hasn't made a film for a few years. A fairly simple story, but with a number of great scenes. The meta-ending also fits well within the whole. Bette Davis is perfectly cast and she makes the film largely. A small 3.5 stars.
