The Libertine plot

"He didn't resist temptation. He pursued it."

In late seventeenth-century England, poet John Wilmot (Johnny Depp), the Second Earl of Rochester, is arguably the most controversial man in King Charles II's retinue. Wilmot is an inveterate womanizer who writes more than liberal plays. Although he is married to the beautiful Elizabeth Malet, he has his eye on the young actress Elizabeth Barry. He resolves to assist her in her performance on stage and between the sheets. But it's hard to live with a man like Wilmot, and when the booze takes its toll and all the women turn against him, there's only one woman who stands by his side through thick and thin: the wife John doesn't really want anymore. know.

Actually, the purchase of this DVD was a surprise for my girlfriend, because she (just like most of female Netherlands) falls for Johnny Depp. The lack of a decent plot is the main reason why we both had very little to do with this film. No actor convinced me. John Wilmot must have been a gifted poet, but I will not delve into his work on the basis of The Libertine. I can't make it more than a fairly vulgar soap in baroque style.

A decent drama movie...

Reasonable story...

Not a pretty drama...

Nice costume...

No nice HD quality, noise everywhere...

Decent acting...

Well-known actor Johnny Depp...

Well about sex and love, not a romance film...

Not worth it...

In the prologue, Johnny Depp asks the audience not to like him. I have no trouble answering his call. In many ways this is a gritty, unsavory film that fails to captivate at any point.
