"Heads will roll."
The year is 1799 and we meet the misfit Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp). He is eagerly looking forward to the new century and tries to carry out his work as a New York agent objectively and scientifically. However, the 'modern' means he uses do not go down well with Judge Burgomaster (Christopher Lee). To get rid of him, he sends Crane to Sleepy Hollow, a strange town populated mainly by Dutch immigrants, and lately haunted by a seemingly invincible headless horseman. He lets his sword swing around and has already beheaded three people on Crane's arrival. The question now is whether Crane's alternative approach can solve the mystery.

The review turned out much better than expected. Tim Burton is still creative here and creates a beautiful gothic world that fits the eerie fairy tale. No horror, and you shouldn't look at it that way. Depp is even still enjoying this movie. An ideal role for him with a bit of eccentricity, but still a real character. In the 21st century he became much more of a caricature of himself unfortunately.
It remains a fairy tale that mainly wants to tell something and provides few surprises. But it is well made. Even withstood the test of time, although it could have a bit more spice here and there.

Really scary? No, of course it's Tim Burton and he's just not that serious.

Sleepy Hollow is not technically a masterpiece. It is thanks to Tim Burton that the film takes on an interesting shape. His style is frantic.
