Writer Harlan Thrombey is found dead in his home just after his 85th birthday. Detective Benoit Blanc is called in to solve the mystery, which turns out to be quite a task. Director Rian Johnson proves that the Agatha Christie formula has not yet been completely exhausted with this ingenious murder mystery that simultaneously honors, mocks and turns the rules of the genre inside out.
In this story, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is a successful thriller writer who celebrates his 85th birthday in his mansion, surrounded by family, and dies the following night. It's up to eccentric sleuth Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to find out "whodunnit".
The real star of "Knives Out" is the sharp script. It plays with the viewer's expectations, knows how to both embrace and avoid the usual clichés and leaves you guessing until the end as to the truth behind the remarkable story. Add to that the cast (who obviously had a lot of fun working) with big names like Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette and Christopher Plummer and you have just a very entertaining Crime / Mystery film which is fun to watch from the first to the last minute.
Daniel Craig visibly enjoys his flourishing role and he is not even the main character in this story, because that honor is bestowed on one of the suspects. The nice thing about the cast is that they all keep their hand a little more, so the film retains its tension until the end, the mysterious atmosphere lingers and the ending also manages to surprise.
All in all, "Knives Out" has become an entertaining game of "Cluedo" with a pleasant infusion of originality.

Extended!! What a wonderful movie this is. Enjoyed from A to Z. The whole clue is perfectly put together and how nice it is when the inheritance is suddenly given to your housekeeper, with the family left behind in amazement. The many types are doing well. Music is excellently selected and appropriate for this genre. If you quickly realize everything, you will probably have discovered the culprit quickly, but I still missed it even if I should have known. I thought the whole design of this film was very successful. You rarely see them like that. Too bad that the Ned. edition does not have 4K, because that is really a beauty to see. Actors play well and we actually see Mr. Miami Vice Don Johnson in the picture again. Daniel Craig also plays a great role, which also applies to Christopher Plummer who, despite his early death, still comes into the picture with his flashbacks. At the end a nice confusion of tongues that only stands out if your English is reasonable, but that doesn't seem that difficult to me. She initially understands YOU but she says Hugh and it almost sounds the same. Masterfully found. Of course there is also some humor in it. Found this Cluedo very successful!

It's been a long time since I had such fun from start to finish with a movie. Nice plot, beautiful design and great acting from the entire cast (with Craig, De Armas and Evans not only getting the most opportunities to shine, but also seizing those opportunities with both hands). Wonderfully funny and at the same time very touching in the early scene between Plummer and De Armas.
