Rian Johnson is already working on the script for a third Knives Out movie.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery was released on Netflix at the end of last year and it proved to be a huge hit with audiences and critics, while it pulled in staggering viewing numbers for the streaming platform, too.
It again starred Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc as the southern sleuth investigating a murder. Johnson always envisioned three Knives Out movies being produced, even if the only link between them all is Craig portraying Blanc.
And, the director isn't taking a break from the Knives Out world as he is jumping straight into Part 3 for his next movie.
"I'm making the next (Benoit Blanc movie) next, because it's the most exciting thing right now to me," he told Empire.
"That's served me really well. I feel like any movie I'm making, I need to be making it because I can't imagine doing anything else. I'm jumping into the next Benoit Blanc next because I can't think about another story.
"I've got a big cloud of ideas, but it hasn't all snapped into focus yet. It's exciting, though, and it's very, very different from this one. That's what I'm excited about."
Knives Out 3 to take place in America
Johnson previously revealed that the story of Blanc will return to the United States after Glass Onion took place on a remote island in Greece.
"I want it to be in America," he told Insider.
"There's a lot of tempting things of going to — Paris or the Alps — but I feel it's really important that these are American movies.
"Bringing it back to somewhere a little closer to home I think could be a good thing for the next one."
Glass Onion starred Craig, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Jessica Henwick.
