"It's not a diary, it's a movie."
We follow Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), a wise-cracking elementary school student, and the problems "middle-school" presents for him. He is supported by his father Frank (Steve Zahn) and his best friend Rowley (Robert Capron). We see through his diary and drawings all the events during the school year. Based on Jeff Kinney's books of the same name.

I didn't like it much. The film started surprisingly, picked up right away. As the movie progressed I started to get annoyed by the stupidity of this movie.
However, it is and remains a children's film. So I asked my son for his opinion and it came out at 3*.

Tried this one at random and thought it was an entertaining movie. The cast was on a roll, the film was visually enjoyable and also funny.
The story was also fun and not boring.
Still, I was pleasantly surprised by this film, but I highly recommend it.

The books are sometimes opened, but I have the idea that they are all a bit the same. Zachary Gordon was an excellent choice for a nerd. Robert Capron was already a bit more annoying, and the film is actually surprisingly not funny.
I've always liked the concept of high school comedies, although I'm rarely really impressed by them. The jokes weren't that funny though, but the story was pretty smooth. Nice that Moretz was there for a while, but her character actually adds very little.
The result is an entertaining, but rather bland book adaptation. Looks away quite easily and fortunately doesn't last too long, but you probably won't laugh. You better put on other comedies for that.
