Paddington is happy with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community. While searching for the perfect gift for his beloved Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, Paddington discovers a unique book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop. In order to buy the book, he takes a series of strange jobs. But when the book is stolen, it's up to Paddington and the Brown family to unmask the thief.

A smashing sequel to this Paddington. It remains fresh and although the humor is less present, the story is very nice. Definitely a Christmas Eve movie because it's top notch in terms of feel-good quality and while you may not want to get emotional with your family around, your heart might break looking into Paddington's gleaming eyes. Sometimes there are some things that happen too coincidentally to be believable, but it's more of a family movie that doesn't bother me. It's a great movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Strike two! With the first Paddington I was already very pleasantly surprised that the film was not such a bland, interchangeable children's film with a CGI beast in the lead, Paddington 2 takes it one step further. Because to be honest, sequels are often a lot less, but Paddington 2 is actually even better than the first. The film contains a lot of repetition, but is even more fun on many fronts. Hugh Grant is an even more amusing villain than Nicole Kidman and the creative, stylistic elements are even more beautiful here. Once again Paddington 2 is a Wes Anderson for the whole family, Paul King comes with some beautiful creations. The movie is hilarious - everything about the prison and especially Brendan Gleeson is gold -, the characters are still very nice and the title bear is still very touching. A small lump even grew in my throat, while the smile could not be wiped off my face the entire playing time. I'd almost say Paddington 2 is practically a perfect movie. Fuck it, it's just a perfect movie!
