I get so tired every now and then reading some of the reviews...........sigh.

If you still have part 1 fresh in your mind (and that's certainly recommended because there are frequent references to events and / or characters from part 1), this is another beautiful and fast-paced film full of spectacle and visually beautiful images. Indeed. the story is not in-depth, but is it with most of the James Bonds and/or Harry Potters films?????

There we are all not complaining about the unbelievability of James Bond, Superman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and more such films, right???? How thin are those storylines? Searching for a Ring, James competing against entire States' security services and yet 99% of those are great films to watch.

I sometimes have the impression that so-called critics of acting think that those actors are like that when they play. Perhaps they forget that they play a ROLE that is written like that. Even the texts that actors say are predetermined.......... Then you can't blame them for doing and saying things that are cliché or whatever.

To be honest, I liked this movie better than the last James Bond movie and even better than part 1.

Saw part 1 a few days ago and tonight it was part 2's turn. And actually I'm very satisfied. It's all from the same sheet a suit and that's fine. Because of this I rate this 2nd part with the same number as part 1. I really liked the scene where the Horsemen throw the playing card with the chip at each other while they are being searched.

Somewhat bland sequel.

The first film was quite fresh in direction and managed to keep some mystery, especially because as a viewer you didn't quite know what to expect. That is of course different with this second part, but Chu doesn't seem to care about that. Unfortunately, that doesn't work, especially if you want to make a slight of hand film.

Plotje therefore feels very forced, all the more so because the film wants to appear smart, but is ultimately transparent. What remains is a cast that is having fun and some heist/magic scenes that are worked out quite nicely. For example, the card event in the secured room is fun, could come straight out of a modern Jing Wong film.

It is no coincidence that the film is set in Macau (there is clearly Chinese money in it), the fact that you see Jay Chou in an encore role has something to do with that, I think. But that is the fate of the current Hollywood film, it just does not offer real added value.

Film is a bit too long and could have been a bit simpler, since the plot is just that. A little less serious, a little more frivolous and a little more aware of the limitations of a sequel. But it's not really annoying, just a step lower compared to the first part.

2.5*
