Unfortunately, in episode ten it got just as interesting at 41 minutes, lasting no more than eight minutes. All in all, season four could have fit into a 90-minute movie as well. Waste of my time, two stars remains.

1. Season 1

2. Season 3

3. Season 4

4. Season 2

This season started impressively, was as usual very slow in the middle, and ended very spectacularly. I thought the season was better than the second season. What's especially refreshing is the new setting, although it all got stretched again. For Elizabeth Moss this was again a highlight in terms of acting, but nice to see that she has also crawled behind the camera a few times. A special mention to Joseph Fiennes, who manages to bring his role to a climax and can be credited as one of the 'worst' (in the positive sense) TV villains of all time.

A season with one of the best endings ever, maybe the best. It takes a long time, the main character finally manages to end up in Canada, with the necessary court scenes that I'm never very fond of. What's strong is how the series portrays how some victims of the Gilead regime deal with their traumas. Namely not. It happens so often in movies or in series that people are traumatized, throw in some therapy and life is beautiful again. But that's not how it works in reality, especially when political reality comes into play.

Of course Fred goes free for political reasons. Normally I'm not a fan of playing your own judge, but in such a situation there is of course no question of justice. You can question the plausibility of the scenario (but in my opinion it has already been thrown overboard in season 2), but it feels so satisfying to see that the main character manages to organize his execution anyway, in handmaid style with former handmaids. Her whispery "run" is truly terrifying.

Finally, it's also interesting to hear the character Joseph talk about how it's easier to escalate a conflict than to de-escalate, especially in light of the Ukraine-Russia war that's currently going on.

Like the previous two seasons, this season is not always believable, but it's interesting how the series deals with the psychology of the victims of a violent regime and how it makes you agree to a gruesome execution. This ultimately makes it a bit better than the previous season. 3.5*.
