Anzio brings back the wonderful feeling of a good WWII movie.

Definitely better than what the rating here indicates. Nice build-up standard mission etc. etc. But it just feels nice. With nice characters, visually also nice sometimes. Mitchum is just good as a reporter on the front. Why Robert Ryan is listed here as 3rd just like on IMDB is a mystery to me. The best man has 2 sentences. Which is a shame. He has become one of my favorite actors in Westerns and War movies.

Went to see this movie because I saw Chino earlier today where Coletti worked with John Sturges. Plus the fact that I felt like watching a war movie again.

If you are a pure lover of this kind of movies like for example a Remagen, Von Ryan's Express and a Battle of the Bulge. Then you should be able to appreciate this movie like I did.

A war film from the 60s, starts off a bit slow but once you get into it, it runs smoothly. It's about the landing at Anzio in Italy where the rangers are among others and this story is about a part of them.

As an aside, for the slightly older ones, Columbo is probably a household name, a series from 1968 - 2003, so 35 years long. In every episode a murder is committed, and the dirty and seemingly absent-minded lieutenant Columbo feigning innocence. In the last few days I have run into Peter Falk twice, in this film and in Castle Keep (1969). A fine actor who really stands out in the films he plays in.

In that respect, Anzio is a beautiful film in which he can show his skills, an attractive man for the women and also an actor who takes the film to a higher level.

Anzio is a fine war film that is exciting at times, has nice action scenes and shows a great true story.

If I like what I saw and would like to see it again in the future, I will give it a 7 or higher. This time a 7!

Messy, incoherent war film that after a reasonable start quickly gets bogged down in improbable and long-winded situations. With Robert Mitchum and Peter Falk the film has resounding names in the cast, but neither succeeds in attracting attention. It is all too flat and bland for that. Produced by, how could it be otherwise, Dino de Laurentiis.
