The X Files plot

"Fight the Future"

Two opposites, the "open-minded" Fox Mulder, and the skeptical Dana Scully, have been working for the FBI for several years on the X-Files: unsolved cases with a supernatural tinge. Due to the constant conflicts they have with their superiors, the X-Files have recently been closed, after which Mulder and Scully are placed on a bomb threat. If the government building is actually blown up, they risk being blamed. They decide to investigate independently. Mulder learns that his suspicions about the presence of extraterrestrial life on Earth are true: there is a secret society that keeps all information about it hidden. An outbreak of alien activity in Texas kicks off the investigation.

Better than the 2008 movie.

Much more "X" anyway, maybe even a little too much. What I remember from the series was that slightly more mystery. This film leaves little room for interpretation, it is all very in your face, from the first minutes.

At least there's more alien stuff in it, something that is inextricably linked with The X Files. After the start, the entire set-up does take a bit too long, but when the conspiracy kicks in, it's quite entertaining and it's close to my memories of the series.

The drama between Duchovny and Anderson remains a bit less interesting, the course is also quite predictable and it sometimes feels a bit too much like a double episode, but Bowman does it all in all quite well. Not a great film, but if you want to see a film version of this series, it is better to watch this than the film from 2008.

Was familiar with the reputation of the series, although I've only seen half an episode of it. It was a lot of supernatural shizzle, bizarre conspiracies and also slightly incoherent unfortunately. I don't think the film will deviate that much from the regular series and build on that, I think? Anyway, this isn't quite my idea of cool science fiction, although those stereotypical aliens looked okay.

Meh.

I've never seen the series, so maybe the fact that I'm watching the movie isn't entirely fair. Still, I was curious enough about this film to give it a chance nonetheless. I'm personally quite anti-series. It may be the future of cinema, but it takes me too long and halfway through a series I often can't muster the motivation to finish it all.

In any case, I have little interest in this series after seeing the movie. Maybe I'm missing some references, trademarks and themes with the lack of knowledge, but oh well. I thought it was quite clumsy and boring. Anderson and Duchovny are allowed to play the roles of the well-known characters, but I found them both rather gray and dead. No characters where I think: "I'd like to see a whole series around those two!".

Visually at times quite spectacular and grandiose, otherwise only rather clumsy. Little directorial value that can lose some power or make a scene more exciting. In fact, that's exactly what the whole film lacks a bit, tension. The unknown threat doesn't impress either and compared to the first half, I even thought the final looked out of place.

No, this was not for me. However, I will soon turn on the 'sequel' to this and see if it can appeal to me a bit more. However, since this is supposed to represent the better rated film, my expectations are not exactly high. The series will be deep in the back of my mind for now. Don't even think about watching these characters for 10 seasons.
