The story of the film really appealed to me, but unfortunately the final result is disappointing.

After 1992's "Sleepwalkers ", Stephen King has largely devoted himself to writing TV movies and miniseries. This new film script was not a great success. Despite a strong build-up, the film fails to maintain suspense.

2.5 *

Not King's very best book, and therefore not a convincing adaptation. Smacks of level B movie. With better actors and tighter, more confident directing, this could have been something, but what remains is a film that clearly should not cost too much money and effort. A Good Marriage is somewhat saved by some good scenes, especially when Bob makes his confession to Darcyand towards the end when suddenly an observant ex cop appears, but even those moments could have been even better. Allen and Lang are decent but more suitable for supporting roles, Lapaglia is really a lesser class actor, you mainly see in the low budget sector and also cannot bring the threat that his character requires. A shame, only suitable for the not too critical viewer.

Discovered not so long ago that the flmbox channel is open and that's what this Stephen King movie was for. And I have a soft spot for the best man, I like to read a book by King, and I can certainly enjoy a bit of wrong film adaptations such as Maximum Overdrive, which is simply quite enjoyable in all its wrongness. Yet this A Good Marriage proves once again that a good book alone is not good enough, because the book is not the fault of the reviews.

We have Bob and Darcy and gosh... how unexpected when it turns out to be less fluffy than expected in the almost idyllic-looking opening. I find the developments after that all just as predictable as they are cliche and in some cases completely silly. For example, until 2/3 the film is a succession of Darcy who is frightened by every movement or shadow, a number of endless and totally uninteresting monologues between the couple, a ridiculous appointment and it takes at least half an hour before the end becomes more interesting. .

The attempts to make it a little more mysterious with the nightmares and the curious stranger actually just don't work, so the film actually fizzles out and is neither interesting nor exciting throughout. Well, we did that again. I wonder if the book is better, it is almost impossible with such a weak film.
