In the genre of fifties science fiction this is undoubtedly one of the best. Expensive special effects, decent actors, pretty good story. Still, I can't give a really high score, mainly because of the totally implausible and unconvincing romantic plot. The acting wasn't always brilliant either, not even with Leslie Nielsen. And there are some camp moments like calling that a monster is invisible when literally a second later he is visible
Still I want to watch it again to find out if the relationship between father and daughter is really incestuous
For the time being 3*

In my memory this was not an exciting film, but when I see the film again I am completely sold. A 1956 SF movie, 14 years before the first moon landing. The film has a beautiful appearance and you also see the creativity in things that may seem obvious now, but were really future technology at the time. The film seems to come out of a comic and takes you completely to a strange world. While most SF movies are just trying to make it very realistic, so to speak. A wonderful windfall!

Started with promising sets/backgrounds, but the entire sequel was too slow for me, even for 98 minutes. And that lame, forced spin around that one woman was also a bit much. Do not fully understand the status of this film: in my opinion, better ones were made around this time, and also before.
