You would expect that a straight-to-video sequel is usually a lot less than its predecessor, but secretly Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies is perhaps even more fun than Wishmaster from 1997. The film lacks the many supporting roles of horror icons and also in terms of practicality. effects and gore, the film has to give up a bit, but Andrew Divoff is even more fun in his role, with his perpetual dirty grin and small beady eyes. Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies is full of deliciously silly nonsense, including a lawyer who fucks himself, to which his client can only watch and yell, 'What about my case, man?'. Divoff is again busy trying to force a wish from people and takes every wish too literally, so that it has a disastrous outcome. It should be clear, Wishmaster 2 is not a strong horror film; the 90s CGI is too ridiculous here and there and just like in the first movie, the main characters are really boring creatures. But the fun and dirty face of Divoff secretly make the film quite worthwhile and, frankly, perhaps even more fun than the first film.

3 stars.

Very nice funny horror movie. The effects are nicely done. But many things are not right. Especially if that Eric has wished he'd never been born. How can his girlfriend miss him if he never existed?

Less fun than the first part, but fun enough for a pass. The fact of the Wishmaster remains fun and there are again a few nice gore scenes in the film. In addition, a perfect casting of Andrew Divoff who knows how to give the Djinn as a human the right vicious devilish look. 6/10
