The first time I tried Repo! Saw Genetic of the Opera, I turned it off after half an hour. A film that you should watch with the right expectations (or none at all) and the right mood. I think this is a small masterpiece.

Great cast with Pauil Sorvino, Anthony Head, Sarah Brightman, Bill Mosely, but especially the casting of Hilton is genius. Her presence seems to me to be the only reason why Repo! is so underestimated and receives poor to moderate scores. I don't really understand the criticism of symphonic rock, it may not be your thing, but there are a lot of expletives thrown around here. Visually it is really beautiful, beautiful decoration, appropriate decors and very nice use of colors. Also a lot of cool and weird characters, not really gory but bloody at times and very atmospheric. Hilton's role contains a lot of self-mockery, so I don't understand why she is so hated.

Very misunderstood this film, one of the nicer films I've seen lately. Sometimes contained a bit of the weirdness of a Strange Circus or other Japanese weirdness. You don't see that in American productions nowadays. 4.5*, close to full, but I will see that when reviewing.

It is a remarkable film. The film starts originally as a kind of comic strip, but soon turns into a real film/musical. The songs are not traditional, but fortunately there is a wide variety of styles, so that there are still songs that will appeal to one or another. Sometimes the film comes across wrong and sometimes it doesn't.

The singing wasn't too bad and the story was compelling enough to keep you interested for the entire running time.

It is a special film that is worth watching. I don't know if everyone will appreciate the film equally, but I didn't think it was wrong.

Horror: The Musical.

Repo! was a movie I've wanted to see for a long time, but wasn't a high priority. More of a movie that I would watch if I ever got the chance to catch it. When I made a trip to the cinema but could only watch the film in 2 hours, there was such a case, and I immediately watched it.

In any case, I did not expect this film to be 100% musical, in a horror environment. I thought it would be a normal horror film with some songs in between, but Bousman really goes all out to make this as much of a musical as possible. A choice that apparently worked given the fan base of this film, but for me it is all a bit less attractive.

Especially because I couldn't find many songs that will stick with me. Some actors or actresses have a decent voice, but I can't say that a single word will inspire or convince me. Moreover, the characters look rather fake, the costumes are too simplistic, especially for a budget approaching 8 million.

In addition, the scenes are depicted colorfully, but without content. The lighting is too simple, just throwing down bright lights doesn't work. The pace is also not very good, which makes this film not always easy to watch. It just never really wants to be super interesting since you're just watching a concert with a thin thread behind the name "story".

I thought it all took a bit too long and offered too little to fill these minutes. The saving grace of this film is the acting and the concept itself, which are written in a nice futuristic and creative manner. Furthermore, this Repo! just not really for me, but of course it is nice to see that some people can completely lose themselves in this film.
