Pillow Talk plot

"...It's What Goes On When The Lights Go Off!"

A playboy composer Brad Allen and an interior designer Jan Morrow have to share the same telephone line. Of course they 'coincidentally' hear each other's conversations and they already hate each other before they have seen each other. It turns out that Jan's boyfriend is also Brad's best friend and when he meets her, he immediately falls in love. However, he doesn't want her to know that he is the man she shares the phone line with and pretends to be a wealthy Texan. Jan has the idea that she has heard those bad pick-up stories before...

1959-Eastman-color-rom-com. Pure eye candy!

The story isn't that much, but the film is charming, funny and contains a few kinky allusions....for 1959 that is. I thought this was the movie with the famous phone scene in bed, that must be from one of the later Day/Hudson movies, but we get a similar scene here in the bathroom.

I think this is a very nice comedy; good acting, lighthearted, sharp dialogues, all very entertaining. The side steps - scenes with the midwife - are also hilarious. I still enjoyed this film for a while. Worth 5 stars for me in the comedy genre.

All things considered, Pillow talk is a celebration of toxic masculinity, and in that respect it sounds false across the board. However, in individual scenes the film is often quite entertaining and entertaining.
