Haunted High plot

"Showing your school spirit can be deadly."

It's the weekend before Homecoming and the students and teachers at Helville High are planning the events. When an earthquake occurs, they are trapped in the school. When the school board says that the earthquake is the result of a gas leak in the basement, work is resumed. What no one knows, however, is that the earthquake released ghosts that had been trapped in the walls of the school for years.

A long episode of the Goosebumps series, but with older actors. The SE are just as crazy, they have that in common. Well, that's not quite right. Goosebumps is much better than this. The characters in Haunted High are a lot more annoying than in Goosebumps. That fat boy was especially irritating, with his whiny, girly voice. The other characters were terrible too, that's for sure...

Halfway through the film (Yes, I kept watching, against my better judgement) I checked what exactly the genre was. Still (also) horror, apparently. Strange, because there is no tension or dark atmosphere at all. They try here and there, but they miss the mark so often that it seems like you are watching a children's/teenager's film with a splash of blood appearing here and there. It went on and on without getting anywhere interesting. Then I gave up hope.

Normally I don't do it quickly, but after about an hour I turned it off. Because it was really bad, but the main reason was because that fat guy wasn't dead yet. Unfortunately.

Of course it is not high quality and the film also looks very cheap. We are dealing here with a typical B-movie. But to be honest, I found this film quite entertaining and it was also enjoyable to watch. The film is of course never interesting or exciting, but the performance was simply fun and humorous and the cast also did a nice job. I especially liked MC Gainey and Misty Marshall as the ghosts.

Messy little thing with some creative violence. Viewers who are familiar with the background of director Jeffery Scott Lando do not have to set their expectations high. Haunted High is little more than an extremely nonsensical, poorly acted horror film in which Danny Trejo in particular adds nothing. Lando conducts some entertaining interludes because the variety of murders is so active, but after the umpteenth ghost situation the fun disappears. Many of the horror elements are also done quite cheaply, so you really have to love this nonsense to get anything out of it. Shawn C. Phillips' acting is unreasonably bad and the computer effects don't look good, luckily it only lasts 84 minutes.
