The relationship between Vorelli and the Devil Doll is extremely intense; those are beautiful scenes. There is plenty of excitement in this lovely film, which has more to offer than the somewhat misplaced title would suggest. Nice!

3.5*.

Inventively filmed horror film benefits from good acting, with Bryant Haliday as the standout in the leading role. A good plot is not flawlessly developed in this cheap-looking production. The scene in which Marianne suddenly has to introduce an excellent dancer under hypnosis gives the impression that there was not enough budget and/or time to give Yvonne Romain dance lessons. Moreover, the 'Devil Doll' is clearly not a doll in a few key scenes. You can justify that from the plot, but the film would have been a lot more effective if the doll was actually a doll. Remained. The camera work, editing and acting make this film enjoyable to watch.

Fascinating story that only goes wrong in the last part. The final scene is too easy and somewhat blandly developed. Preferably not to see the mix-up, but rather the further elaboration of Vorelli's evil intentions or possibly the doll's revenge in a different way. Beautiful black and white photography with good camera work. Another strong asset is the excellent acting and the creepy relationship between the doll and Vorelli. And Yvonne Romain is a fantastic sight to watch. I've seen a few of her films and she always manages to attract attention with her beauty. 6/10
