No point in wasting a lot of words on this. Monster of a movie. Not scary, not exciting, annoying kids, annoying couple. Ridiculous plot. Wasn't about anything anymore. As if they really could have slaughtered the entire village with those silly little weapons of theirs. Most of those youngsters couldn't even wipe their own hole. No, this was a really annoying piece of shit.

Final conclusion: so........?!?!?!?

I really like bad and bad horror movies, but this is by far the worst movie I've ever seen :-| And unfortunately I don't mean nice bad, but really bad!

What a worthless story, suddenly one of the main characters is dead, which is nice in itself, but then it is nice to understand the story around it. Suddenly the movie is over and you are left with a huh? feeling, was this really the end? Bad acting, almost no exciting scenes. All over: boring! Waste of your time as far as I'm concerned!

It's no surprise that this film is getting bad reviews. But it's not like this Children of the Corn remake is the worst of the series. The two previous parts (Isaac's Return and Revelation) were bigger rubbish than this. And the fact that it's a remake doesn't say much either; every film in this franchise is completely standalone, the series is not exactly a good continuity to be caught. And this 2009 version of Children of the Corn (which I think sometimes should have been called Children of the Vietcong) isn't the worst the series has to offer. In fact; certain elements of this remake are even an improvement on that first film. Because unlike the original, this one is a lot less boring and also has a much better ending.

But that doesn't take away from the fact that the film is also pretty crap; After all, no movie in this franchise is good. This Children of the Corn episode is even unbelievably shitty in some areas, namely when it comes to Vicky and Isaac. Vicky is truly the nastiest character in human history. Her constant screams, laments and wails almost make you cheer for the satanic children. But on that side you have Isaac, the star of the show in the original. Here's a kid who really doesn't threaten anything. He can't even point convincingly or look angry, let alone preach. Apart from these two aspects, the film is not Mother's most beautiful in any case; just like the first film you see that the story can hardly fill a film of one and a half hours and it all feels quite stretched. Still, this remake is less boring and lifeless than the 1984 version and the fact that ends badly for our two main characters is a strong addition. Better than that ridiculous ending from the first movie. Still, Children of the Corn is stupid. But that stupidity makes it secretly somewhat entertaining here and there.

2 stars.
