Reasonable film in which a girl is sent to a clinic after a suicide attempt. This third part is more connected to the first film. The setting (a clinic for teenagers) works fine here. Imaginative special effects and kills. But like most slashers a bit monotonous.

Better again.

With this part, the tension is slowed down a bit and the film gets more of a comedic slant, which comes into its own especially during the second part. The first part feels a bit more familiar, but the film manages to gain a lot of power from the second part. I must also honestly say that I prefer part 3 of the series over part 1.

Too bad the more serious part doesn't work as well. The acting is not very special and only the children know how to play nicely. The adults play more boring roles that I wasn't a fan of. Also recognized actors such as Fishburne get little space in this film and it is clear that there was no room for improvisation. At least, that's how it comes across.

Visually it is progress. The budget went up slightly, and the quality of the film also goes up. Some very nicely constructed sets and some hilarious scenes towards the finale. The finale also manages to bring the film up (literally), because the first part had to rely exclusively on the murders that are set up creatively.

It's nice, by the way, that Englund has again become a prominent appearance and his comedic traits know how to help the film move forward. He may lose some of his threat here, but that doesn't detract from the experience. Moreover, the murders he commits are remarkably mean, and also more fun than a lot of other slashers around this period. The concept also gives space for that, and the film takes it from it.

It's a shame that the finale goes by quickly, but this film draws the most power from some seriously funny scenes. In terms of atmosphere, I thought it was a bit less, because the noise does overwhelm the tension, but since it's entertaining I want to give it enough, and especially because this film has one of the nicest horror quotes ever. (Wizard Master!!)
