After the success of the cartoon series from the 80s, a real feature film appeared in 1990. Treasure of the Lost Lamp was the first animated film from the new DisneyToon Studios. In terms of animation, this film cannot compete with the Disney Animated Classics. The story is still nice, but the film has a chronic lack of humor. The biggest lack of Ducktales was the absence of Donald Duck himself.

Fun to watch once on a rainy Sunday afternoon. But not really a film that stays with you for a long time afterwards.

The first film in the DisneyToon series that would deliver titles such as A Goofy Movie, Tinkerbell and Planes. It takes some getting used to the style. Especially if you're used to the quality of Disney's Studio Animations. And even more so when you consider that they would come with Beauty & the Beast a year later. The concept is therefore less of a family film, but more of a children's film. Based on the series of the same name. It has stayed true to that. I read references to Aladdin here. There are, but keep in mind that the Disney movie only came out in 1992.

Once the story is running, I like it a bit. Fortunately, the film is short. But it remains mainly for children and the nostalgia will perhaps play a part. Also, this animation could have been a bit more quality. Otherwise you might as well have made a double episode. It is strange that Disney has not done this again with series such as Quack Pack, Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, The Wuzzles or Gummi Beren. They will have found that it takes more to translate a series into a movie. Not obvious, certainly not with short, quick, funny animation sequences.

Mainly living on nostalgia, but not that bad in itself. It just lacks the quality of most other Disney movies and the movie content to aim for a bigger audience and make it a bit more epic.

Although now that I am 34 years old it has really lost some of its magic in terms of tension, this remained a nostalgic reunion with old friends At times I had a good laugh and especially enjoyed the voice of Dagobert, so recognizable! As for the voices: very unfortunate that the voices of the nephews were not the same as in the TV series and too bad that Donald didn't have a small part in the film, as he often did in the TV series. Anyway, nice that you could set the language on Netflix, nice! =)

Actually I lean towards 3* but still 3.5 because it was such a nice trip down memory lane
