Short Disney cartoon, based on A Christmas Carol, the famous book by Charles Dickens in which a miser is visited by three ghosts on Christmas night. The ghosts try to persuade him to change his life. All characters here are played by characters from other Disney short and full-length cartoons.

I know the story of 'A Christmas Carol' through this film.
We used to have this on videotape as kids and it's the Christmas movie my sister Gia and I watched most often.
Bought it again on DVD a few years ago to integrate it into our daughter's education in Dutch (it is also on YouTube in English).
She also enjoys watching this.
It is a hand-drawn, warm and very atmospheric Christmas film due to the beautiful soft colors and authentic look. A nice timeless story.

The Simple Things was the last 'normal' entry in the Mickey Mouse series and it took 30 (!) years before Disney started to revive its iconic mouse. The time for 10-minute cartoons was over and you can tell with Mickey's Christmas Carol. It was not the first time that a book was tackled (Thru the Mirror from 1936 used Alice in Wonderland), but now more time is made available for it. There are some nice choices. Scrooge McDuck is an ideal miser and a series of supporting characters (Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie Mouse and even characters from Robin Hood, among others!) make this a very nice cartoon, although I am not really a fan of Dickens' work. Memorable also because it was the last feat of Clarence Nash (Donald Duck), but also very beautifully animated.
