Tigertail plot
Pin-Jui is a free-spirited but poor Taiwanese factory worker. He makes the difficult decision to leave his homeland and the woman he loves. He is looking for better opportunities in America. But years of monotonous work and an arranged marriage without love leave the elder Pin-Jui a shadow of his former person. He does not have a good relationship with his daughter and runs the risk of being left alone during his retirement. So he decides to pick up the life from his past again to finally build the life he once dreamed of.

Excellent film about a young man from Taiwan who leaves for America to build a life there. Despite the fact that the film covers a lifetime, the film has a leisurely pace. In fact, just a love story, but with quite a few themes (existence as an immigrant, generation gap and life choices and their consequences). A small 4.0 stars for this excellent directorial debut by Alan Yang.

Yes, I also thought this was a very nice warm film to see. I have no idea what it is, because cramming a whole life into an hour and a half usually goes terribly wrong. Now in this case the focus is mainly on the relationships that the main character has with his childhood sweetheart, wife, daughter and mother, which provides some focus that helps. The rest around it is decoration and everything is just enough that it feels like a full part of the film. This gives you a very nice look at the main character and his life and because he looks back on his life, you as a viewer also feel some nostalgia for times gone by. Nicely subdued acting, visually excellent and also good in terms of pace. 4.0*.

The time jumps initially seem a bit annoying to get a good insight into the story, but with some patience and effort from this viewer, everything became crystal clear.
"Musings and reflections on the many twists and turns that are stored in a life" is pretty much the theme of this overall beautiful film.
And whose life contains no harsh reality, no imposed obligations, no misunderstandings and wrong decisions, no shattered illusions in addition to sweet memories, no dissatisfaction either.
Alan Lang brings together all considerations and nostalgia, with great acting, beautiful music and convincing acting as additional assets.
Better than the average figure here, I think
Watch it calmly and certainly not hastily, that's how he looks at his best.
