I think it's an erotic thriller, but it's not very erotic and there isn't much thriller in between. Tommy Wiseau has a certain appeal in a strange way, with his strange accent and his exaggerated mannerisms ('Oh Hi Mark'). Also the script is absurd in a way that you wouldn't think a grown person could have typed it all out. A kind of egocentric fetish of a man who has assigned himself the role of 'the perfect husband' in a world where everyone - and indeed everyone - preys on his desirable wife. The strangest thing is that Wiseau had a budget of 6 million dollars for this!? Well, it's hilarious at times, but 99 minutes is on the long side for a third rate production.

Had already seen the necessary scenes on Youtube. So that was a feast of recognition, but okay, now The Room as a whole. Aiaiai, this was painful, but a Tommy Wiseau doesn't seem to care either. In real life he must also be such a tormented psycho I think. The rest of the cast also doesn't make much of an effort to make something out of his film, which suffers the most from an incoherent script and bizarre dialogue.

Most astonishing is how the film needed a budget of 6 million dollars. It's really low budget made in a hatseflats way. It is also noticeable that during the final editing scenes seem to have been mixed up, so that you watch this film with complete confusion. Anyway, now let's go watch The Disaster Artist .

A terribly bad film and one that has perhaps been given more status than it needs to be. Still, I keep my half-star ratings for films that I feel deeply offended by or that are bad because they are extremely rushed and cheap (asylum productions especially). As bad as The Room may be, there are people who have worked on it who are undoubtedly doing their best. And let's face it: sometimes it's so bad it gets funny again.

Take the flower shop scene for example. It's over before you know it. It goes so fast, but in those few seconds, Johnny and the flower seller squeeze out sentences that are downright idiotic and hilarious. Oh hi doggy!

I felt sorry for Lisa, who clearly doesn't feel comfortable in the sex scenes with Johnny, but thrives on his best friend. directordirectorwriterleader Tommy Wiseau is a special figure anyway. Because of him you would almost forget that the other actors are not very good either. After all those strange events, bizarre choices, bluntly sunny rugby ball throwing scenes, weird romances, the end can't come soon enough. If I ever see the film again, hopefully it will be a compilation with all those crazy quotes.
