“I have torn this country apart for YOU!”

Great historical drama. The history of King Henry VIII and the Boleyn sisters is well known, of course, and The Other Boleyn Girl isn't trying to reinvent the wheel either. Solid, but with enough freshness and quirkiness not to let it get boring.

With Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson as the Boleyn sisters, the chances of things getting boring are slim. Portman has the extroverted role and uses it gratefully. Johansson has the somewhat more modest role, but with only her calm and hoarse voice and expressive look she already knows how to make a big impression. I thought Bana was a bit flat as Henry, but luckily the other roles are played by classy actors. It is clear that the focus is on the Boleyn sisters and that is a choice that works out very well. Because the ending is tragic, and the excellent acting pulls you in completely.

The film was not bad, but many events and persons were missing, Henry VIII's appearance also did not match reality, at a certain age he was struggling with his health and he was obese. The book is much more interesting to read.

The subject of the film and Henry VIII's marriage has been the subject of many films and series. This movie is smooth in telling the story and it does it well.
