The Best Man plot
"Does The Best Man Always Get To The White House?"
William Russell, an intelligent, wealthy man who has long earned his stripes in politics, seems like the most logical candidate for president for the Democratic Party. Former President Hackstadter, however, has a certain preference for Senator Cantwell for the time being, but that soon comes to an end when the rude Cantwell kicks the ailing president seriously. Hackstadter then advises Russell to hang Cantwell's many dirty laundry outside, but Russell refuses to let the game drop to that level. Cantwell, however, clearly has less difficulty with this.
