In itself a beautiful film with a serene atmosphere. The images of the different decades were beautifully designed and the lead actress is also pleasant to see.

In terms of plot, it started as I had imagined, but I thought it was a shame that the film gradually did so little really interesting things with the fact that it did not become outdated. It mainly focuses on her love interest (Michiel Huisman) and although he did seem charming, I didn't find the fact that she fell for him very credible. You would think that someone with so much life experience and wisdom might also seek refuge in older men.

The meeting with his father, whom she knew from back in the day, made it -albeit quite coincidentally- more interesting, but it is never really clear why she had made such an impact on his life. After all, the bond they used to have remains underexposed and therefore their meeting did not affect me emotionally.

I also thought the ending was a bit of a shame, because I had hoped that the film would show that Michiel Huisman is getting older and she is not. In terms of plot it is therefore a pity that - just when she chooses not to 'run away' anymore - she again has an accident that undoes the 'spell'. Nice and easy solution to the age problem (getting old together, hooray) but also a rather conventional ending.

Strong movie. As written before: a fairytale atmosphere (you have to accept the 'explanation' at the beginning and allow the movie). Original story. A bit predictable at some points, of course, but still a nice plot twist halfway through. Excellent acting, although I would have played the role of Michiel Huisman a little less intrusively. Harris Ford plays a fine and sympathetic supporting role. Excellent chemistry between the two protagonists: as far as I'm concerned, the love is well portrayed and credible. Themes such as making choices, fleeing or confronting, aging and 'what do you want with your life' are nicely worked out without being too thick on top. But above all, I thought this was a sympathetic film that makes you happy. Nice mix between drama and romance, with an emphasis on romance. Four stars.
