"Spain Conquered the New World for Gold 500 Years Later, Water is Gold Not Much Else has Changed..."
Idealist Sebastian decides to make a film about one of the world's most iconic figures: Christopher Columbus. Sebastian is determined to change the myth about the arrival of Western civilization in America once and for all. His film will clarify what really caused Columbus: gold rush, slavery and violence against protesting Native Americans. The producer decides to shoot in Bolivia, the cheapest and most 'Indian-like' country in Latin America. However, the municipality of Cochabamba has other things to do besides the arrival of the film crew, namely the water supply that has been completely privatized and sold to an American multinational. This causes unrest and violence to increase, resulting in the Bolivian water war. 500 years after Columbus, another battle takes place in the area, this time not over gold, but over water.

Poignant film about the exploitation of the poor population of Bolivia by the multinationals.
The value of the film lies mainly in the contrast between the crew of a film crew who, no matter how serious, ultimately have a purely commercial and entertainment object while their extras, the poor Bolivians, fight for their livelihood.

A film about a film, or rather a film within a film. The film is about Columbus who oppressed and exploited the Indians in favor of Spain in 1500. But in the end not much has changed and the Indians in Bolivia are still oppressed and exploited by the authorities. And even as extras for this film. And that is an extremely interesting fact for a film. Unfortunately, the story is all told and filmed a bit too straightforward, so that you as a viewer do not really go along with it. Only towards the end does the film finally go into more depth and become a bit more personal, but then it is so short that it again comes across as contrived and unbelievable. So there should have been a lot more to this movie. This should have been a great and impressive film. It was also quite well acted and it all looked beautiful. So that wasn't the issue either. Now it has finally become a meager six.
