Missing plot
Republican at heart, Ed Horman travels to a South American country in search of his missing son, a political activist. Together with his daughter-in-law, he tries to fight his way through bureaucracy and political intrigue. Gradually, Ed learns that the US government is obscuring things from him.

A strong duo, Lemmon-Spacek, dominates this very clever film that once again shows how the human being has to succumb to economic and political interests. Brilliant direction and some gripping images. In my opinion the best performance of Jack Lemmon ever.
Saw the film when it was released and then it continued to reverberate for a long time.

Missing is a 1982 American drama film directed by Costa-Gavras. The screenplay is based on the true story of the American journalist Charles Horman, who disappeared during the Chilean coup in 1973. Horman's wife and father try in vain to find out what happened to him. In the Chilean bureaucracy they are sent from pillar to post until they discover the terrible truth.
Missing is a nice film with a lot of flashbacks, which in my opinion take the momentum out of the film. There are beautiful roles for Jack Lemmon as Charles' father, and Sissy Spacek as his wife. The film won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and received nominations for Best Actor (Jack Lemmon), Best Female Lead (Sissy Spacek) and Best Picture. 3.5*
