After the death of her mother, 15-year-old Lesia [Ghjuvanna Benedetti] spends more time with her 59-year-old father [Saveriu Santucci] in Corsica, a notorious criminal who is engaged in a revenge attack in which the enemy tries to strike back and the police are hot on his heels. The perspective of the daughter of a murderer is certainly original, but it does not lead to surprising new insights. The revenge attacks take place largely off-screen (Lesia discovers what happened via news reports) and so there is little action, but a lot of talking. That a father loves his child unconditionally and that a daughter can be blind to her father's mistakes will come as no surprise and Colonna unfortunately has little more to add in this well-acted, but (despite exciting music) not very compelling family drama.

The film does a lot right and nothing wrong but it felt a bit long at times (despite the not super long length) which is why it doesn't deserve a higher score.

What is so nice is that this film beautifully combines mafia and coming of age and then from the point of view of the child. Yes, father is a gang leader (and probably has something on his conscience) but he also remains the father. And that combination produces a certain fascinating dynamic. Especially the scenes between father and daughter are beautiful and also how they get to know each other better in a summer. The script also helps. The father is not someone who neglects his daughter but someone who simply can't see his daughter much because he is on the run. Clichés are avoided in this way. Normally you often see that people even hate each other and then grow closer, but none of that is the case here. It takes some getting used to, but from second 1 there is a love, certainly from the father. Nice. A striking example is with the telephone. That is a bit of disobedience but also the fact that she is always kept out of everything. Throughout the film she is slowly taken more and more. And because she immediately confesses that she called and the father responds lovingly to thisthis also helps. This is someone who knows what kind of situation they are in and that something like this is almost a logical action for a teenager.

The film is typical for the genre by using a certain summer to show the development. And because of the script that works too. Fine summer images where the summer warmth radiates and contributes to the atmosphere. Only yes, the pace sometimes. Too bad. So only 4.0* and I really had a hard time rounding that up.

Fine film that despite the subject matter and all the misery still feels quite light. I especially liked the character Lesia (Ghjuvanna Benedetti) very much and completely. She was a typical fifteen year old: sometimes already an adult, at other times still a real child.

The nice thing about mafia movies is that you start to empathize with the characters, even if they don't always do things you support. In this movie, Lesia's father has a clear motive for his murders, you go along with it to the point where you realize that you are actually in favor of a strong constitutional state and that you shouldn't take the law into your own hands.

Despite this, I felt some satisfaction at the end. That came nicely abruptly. You don't get any of the preparation for the murder, just a shot and that's it. Well done. I didn't find the film too long, like some here, but just long enough.
