Holy Motors plot

We follow 24 hours in the life of a creature. One minute it's a man, the next it's a woman. Sometimes it is young, then again so old that it is about to die. The function it performs is also variable; from murderer to beggar, from businessman to monstrous creature and from worker to family man. The creature seems terribly lonely and exhausted by all these different guises, in which it must begrudgingly kill and love people it does not know. The question arises where its home and its family are and where it can find its peace of mind.

A film that you really can't relate to as a viewer. The film has no real coherence and the atmosphere is not strong enough to fall back on that. We know the absurdism and the surprising events that you as a viewer know just enough to hold on to. A film that asks the viewer unanswered questions. It has become a circus act, but less conventional. In any case, the film stuck, but in some areas also with a little hunger. And it's not visually overwhelming enough to become a real top film.

The film is as crazy as it is fascinating, but the film is certainly not incoherent or vague: in my opinion the film is about the fact that nowadays there are cameras everywhere, we want to be watched all the time, we want to experience everything, etc. the film inverts to follow a craft actor who plays scenes in the street all day, even when there are no spectators. The effect is that being yourself vs. play a role as well as real life vs. fiction become intangible. The film does something to Kaufman's films/screenplays – but also to the equally brilliant La Belle Époque (2019) - MovieMeter.nl – think because they have the same theme (and because the scenes have different stories – one more exciting or more startling than the other – are also something like Relatos Salvajes (2014 ) - MovieMeter.nl), but this film is also visually beautiful. It's a brilliant film and a compelling viewing experience; At most because the film lacks a real climax as a finale, I don't give it five stars.
