Eldorado plot
Yvan, a hot-tempered forties and salesman of cars, catches young Elie breaking into his house. Instead of beating him up, he feels a strange affection for the boy. He decides to take him back to his parents in his old Chevrolet. Thus the two eccentrics begin a curious journey through a wondrous but strange land.

Road movie through Wallonia by and with Bouli Lanners.... very strong in terms of camera work, but the dialogues are a bit syrupy here and there and some scenes go on a bit too long.
Somewhat form over substance, but this was the predecessor of his first masterpiece: "Les Geants" and the atmosphere of that film sometimes shines through.

In "Ultranova" and "Les Géants", Bouli Lanners staged disgruntled youngsters, but now they are two fringe parties who experience a boulversant adventure in surreal environments (Wallonia is like the States) with surreal characters on the way.
It doesn't last long, but the film did surprise me because of the wit of the (simple) dialogues, the close-ups that draw the characters excellently, the power of some scenes (the visit to the parents) and finally how Lanners look manages to keep it sensitive and captivating. Also several funny moments (the introduction, Alain Delon and many replies) in a film that once again paints a sad picture of a part of society.
Acting level up to par, also by Philippe Nahon.
That Bouli Lanners is certainly no ordinary one.

Crazy Belgian road movie with a number of slightly surreal moments. Good acting by Bouli Lanners (who also directed the film) and Fabrice Adde. The budding friendship between the two forms the heart of the film. Alternately funny and subtly gripping.
