Sadness and joy are close together here in this Bette Davis film that has no shortage of sentimentality and tackles a theme that will remain relevant.

The film is also nicely made.

Two details in the margin : Humphrey Bogart in a supporting role. Not seen that much and Ronald Reagan, a future president of the US, who already with "Here we go again" could not fail to do one of his well-known stop sentences.

Excellent film in which a woman in the prime of her life is told that she has a brain tumor. With a story like this, melodrama cannot be avoided. But because of the optimistic and rather present main character, the film gets away with it. Of course, the strong role of Bette Davis has an equally large share in this (she makes the film). A beautiful, touching ending.

In the beginning she is an insufferably cocky nest and occasionally she does a lot of overacting.

but as her character moves in a more sympathetic direction, the movie gets a lot better.

Bogart's role is indeed small, but nevertheless a great addition.

The disease is actually completely kept out of the picture, something that was common around that time.
