"Brothers till the bitter end."
Four friends grow up together in the city of Pusan around 1980. At some point, two of them start to engage in criminal activities, while the others continue to lead normal and decent lives. When the two criminals are expelled from school after a fight, a difficult time begins, which tests the four years of friendship.

Beautiful film, fairly stylishly shot. Especially the 1981 part is very nice, but there are plenty of good scenes after that. Of the four friends, I only found Jeong-ho (right on the poster) not so convincing, fortunately also the smallest role of the four.
Music and atmosphere are not equally strong everywhere and Chingoo seems to aim for a rather melodramatic end at first, but I really liked the transition from illuminated corridor to water and the last scene.

Excellent crime drama about four friends who grow up together in the South Korean city of Busan around 1980. The first hour in particular is worthwhile, partly due to the striking nostalgic image of the time (Betamax! Pong!) and the fun dynamics between the four boys. When one gets older and the problems arise, it all becomes a bit more predictable and standard, but the well-developed characters keep the film well on track.
