Have you ever seen a machine that shakes all the olives out of an olive tree within 15 seconds? Our Daily Bread takes the viewer to the places in Europe where our food is produced. Different production processes of various foods are reviewed, from olives to steak and from tomatoes to salt. The sometimes shocking images show how treadmills, cutting devices and machines determine the process. People, animals and crops seem to have only a minor role in the logistics of food production. We are presented with the scenes without comment or explanation and the distance between consumer and product is made almost tangible.
