Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare plot

"My ten year catfish nightmare."

In 2009, Kirat receives a friend request from a certain 'Bobby Jandu'. She doesn't know him, but she sees that they have a number of common connections. She decides to accept the request. Kirat and Bobby start chatting and the contact becomes increasingly intensive. The messages turn into phone calls and the two become increasingly closer. Their online friendship grows into a long-distance relationship; she lives in England and he in Australia. However, she has no idea that he is not what he seems. It turns out that she has been the victim of catfishing for 10 years.

It's a shame that after fifteen minutes you've figured out how 'Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare' (2024) is going to go. Although it remains interesting to see how real this relationship was for Kirat. She still seems emotional when she talks about turbulent developments in her affair with Bobby. Also interesting how this 'catfishing' could find a place within the strict expectations of an Indian-Kenyan minority group in the United Kingdom. Just as her catfisher could so viciously play on her caring nature and the fear of being left childless. Yet after the end you are mainly left with questions about the motives of niece Simran. Why did she target Kirat so much? Does it have something to do with her own position in the Indian-Kenyan community? Does she have psychological problems or even a sociopathic/psychopathic predisposition? Or were there lesbian feelings towards Kirat?

It's probably just me, but even though there is pressure from the parents, after so many years you should know that someone is messing with me.

Of course you can make a documentary like this every day.

And don't forget that there are of course more cases of online dating that go very well and where people really do become happy, but everywhere there are always people with bad intentions....
