Johan Cruijff - En un Momento Dado plot

In 1974 Cruijff, at one point, arrived in Barcelona. "Was this scrawny chain smoker supposed to make our club champion again after years of doom and gloom?" said one of the interviewees. "It worked, but Cruijff did more. He gave the Catalans back their pride after the repression during the Franco dictatorship." Ramón Gieling gives the floor to many Catalans. From the taxi driver, the cook, the flamenco guitarist who provides music to Cruijff's graceful actions, to the heart surgeon who operated on Cruijff after a heart attack. Gieling sketches the unique footballer that Cruijff was and shows the crazy individuality of the leader through the words of his admirers. They have analyzed Cruijff, imitate his movements and argue their admiration, like the lone secretary who has never been able to find a man who came close to Johan Cruijff's quirkiness, grace and 'fun'.

Nice documentary. As a Cruijff fan I looked through rose-colored glasses, because critical notes will certainly be missed in this documentary. But what beautiful old images too. Through those images and the interviews you will visually see the bigger picture of Cruijff's status in Barcelona.

As a Van Basten fan I hope they make a documentary about him one day. Especially from his Milan days. When he was also great and scored great goals.

It's been a while since I've seen this one, but I still remember it well. The documentary makes it very clear what the status is of Cruijff in Barcelona and especially for the Catalans. The whole thing consists mainly of interviews where the (mostly) Catalans tell their memories of Cruijff, often also with examples when they try to imitate Cruijff. Touching in the positive sense of the word and slowly you come to understand why he was so important there, without it all explicitly becoming very political. It is true that 90 minutes get boring, also because there is hardly any variety in it. You keep getting talking heads and after 45 minutes the message is clear. And that interview at the end with Cruijff himself doesn't seem to fit right in either. 3.0*.

Cruyff.

The documentary shows beautifully and quite understated, without frills, how Cruijff is still revered as a hero in Barcelona. How much he has touched people's lives, and the more impressive that they tell about it with tears, or the gleam in their eyes. And at the end, the maestro herself also speaks - something that happened to me completely appropriate, in contrast to my predecessor. My only point of criticism is that the somewhat bland framework with the ball-trap doesn't add much.

Too bad the man was not given another moment, I will miss him. John, rest in peace.
