Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story plot
"Icon. Immigrant. Inventor."
“A real star”. “A temptress on the silver screen”. “The most beautiful woman in the world”. All of these statements were used to describe Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr. Alexandra Dean's documentary adds “inventor” to the list. An Austrian Jewish émigré who acted as an actress by day and designed mechanical and electronic inventions by night, Lamarr devised a "secret communication system" to help the Allies defeat the Nazis. Dean reveals how Lamarr gave her patent to the Navy, was denied reimbursement for her contributions, and had become poor in her final years.
