The Exception plot
"One duty. One desire. One decision."
The story takes place in 1940, the year in which the Netherlands was occupied by the Germans. The Dutch resistance and the British secret service work together to spy on the German Kaiser Wilhelm, who has been living in exile in the Netherlands since 1918. Then a romance develops between a Jewish woman and a German soldier, with unforeseen consequences for themselves and for Kaiser Wilhelm.
